I was responding the poster who said carbs make you fat and explaining why whole carbs don’t, provided they contain minimal vegetable fat. It takes up to 4 hours to digest any vegetable, fruit or grain compared to animal products which can take anywhere from 4 hours to a day to digest or even longer. Comparitively speaking whole carbs break down quickly but are digested slowly and evenly during that time. Why don’t YOU learn some manners and ask questions before you so readily insult someone.

lol your body breaks down whole grains quicker? One should probably educate themselves before posting. The reason why whole grains and complex sugars are good for us is because it takes longer for our bodies to digest them. It doesn’t create an insulin spike thus shuttling fat into our cells. seriously…its no wonder america is fat. They can’t freakin pick up a text book and read….

It depends on what kind of starch. Whole grains and whole sweeteners like maple syrup and agave used in moderation don’t pile on the pounds. Your body breaks whole grains more easily and more quickly.

Brown rice is about 8% protein, almonds are rich in protein, soy milk is typically about a fifth to a quarter protein – all are well rounded in terms of amino-acid content as well. Obviously it’s not going to work if you’re burning 10,000 calories in a day and are going to be very active, but for a typical adult this is quite sufficient.
